June 2009 Squiz.net
purchases Fujitsu’s PostgreSQL Plus licences and support
PostgreSQL Plus
is a derivative of the PostgreSQL database which gives additional live
backup processing that protects customer data and guarantees zero data
loss in times of emergency. Fujitsu, as part of support, is committed
to help Squiz.net improve their applications performance by working
with Squiz.net to analyse the database usage for the application’s use.
Analysis of the application’s SQL interaction will highlight
bottlenecks and allow tuning of the SQL and database structure to
enhance performance.

March 2009 Since
Interstage Application Server V9.1, Fujitsu has started using Sun's
Open Source GlassFish Java EE container to provide a Java EE 5
container implementation resulting in lower development costs. As
Sun has always been the
first to release implementations of the latest Java EE technologies in
its application server, the use of GlassFish as the base of
Interstage's
Java EE compliant container will allow Fujitsu to introduce the
latest Java EE technologies to its customers within a quicker
timeframe.
FAST participates in the GlassFish related OSS
communities (in fact, one member has been granted "committer" privilege
for the Glassfish project) and collaborates with the developers to make
sure quality and other issues encountered by Fujitsu are applied in
GlassFish too. FAST also actively follows the current development of
GlassFish, and participates in community discussions and feature
reviews. FAST's experience with new technologies, OSS development and Fujitsu's development process enables it to provide liaison between Interstage developers and the GlassFish
communities. This allows FAST to ease the
transition from a proprietary developed product in a saturated market
to an innovative cost-effective standards-compliant OSS based product.
